Your data and privacy

What we collect, where it lives, who sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Where is my data stored?

In Amazon Web Services data centres in the United States (Northern California). Course content such as video is delivered through content delivery networks with edge locations worldwide, but those caches hold content, not personal data.

Can anyone outside the UK or US see it?

Your data is stored and processed only in the US. Our engineering team works remotely and may on occasion access production systems from other countries while travelling. That access is to US-hosted systems over encrypted connections, by named engineers with multi-factor authentication, and no personal data is copied to or stored on devices or servers in those countries.

How is my data legally protected when it moves from the UK or EU to the US?

Simon Sinek, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, which the UK government and European Commission recognize as a lawful basis for transfers. Details are in section 14 of our Privacy Policy.

What personal data do you process, and why?

Your name, email address, profile image if you add one, sign-in and device information, and your learning activity in Leaderful: content started and completed, self-assessment answers, quiz results and written reflections. We process it to provide the service, to keep it secure, and, if an organization gave you access, to show its admins team-level progress.

Who else sees my data?

Only the service providers we need to run Leaderful, each under contract and limited to their function: cloud hosting, identity and sign-in, payments, in-app support messaging, email delivery, product analytics and error monitoring. We do not sell personal data and we never share member data with advertisers.

Do you use my data for marketing or to improve the product?

We use it to run the service and to send you messages about it: onboarding, reminders, progress and new content relevant to what you have access to. You can opt out of anything that isn’t essential to your account. We do not sell personal data or use it for third-party advertising.

We also analyse usage in aggregated, de-identified form to understand how the product is used and to improve it. That analysis cannot be traced back to an individual or an organization.

What happens to my data if I leave an organization or delete my account?

If an admin removes you from an organization, your learning history stays in that organization’s reports as a former member so its figures remain complete. If you delete your Leaderful account, your name and image are removed everywhere; the email an organization invited and the activity you did under its licence remain in its reports. To exercise any privacy right, including deletion, email [email protected].
